Albuquerque, NM – In a new video, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas, the state’s chief law enforcement officer, outlined Michelle Lujan Grisham’s commitment to doubling support for special prosecutions and targeting corruption across New Mexico. Balderas outlined Michelle’s understanding that we need real accountability at all levels of government, and her continuing commitment to fight crime and support families across New Mexico.

“I’ve fought for real accountability in government throughout my entire career in public service, whether going undercover to expose abuse and neglect in nursing homes or personally holding the VA accountable for mismanagement,” said Michelle Lujan Grisham. “That’s why as Governor, I will work to restore public trust and confidence that New Mexicans’ tax dollars are put to the right use. I will also work to boost efforts like the Attorney General’s special prosecutions unit to hold corrupt officials at every level of government accountable.”

“Our office’s special prosecutions unit has targeted corruption in every type of government. We will do the right thing and protect taxpayers,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas. “I know Michelle Lujan Grisham not only supports our efforts but she has made a commitment to double our staffing and resources because we want to partner with all law enforcement agencies, all public schools, and all communities to make sure that taxpayers can be confident in their government. We need accountability and I know that Michelle Lujan Grisham supports that.”

Michelle Lujan Grisham has modeled transparency in this Governor’s Race, as the only candidate who has publicly released five years of her tax returns.
