As a result of road improvements, traffic accidents from the Texas Border to mile marker 20 on U.S. 285 have decreased by more than 50%.

After visiting Chama and other communities in Rio Arriba following the December 2021 wind and snow storm, Governor Lujan Grisham pushed for and signed SB 141, legislation that would enable local governments to get propane supplies from another supplier, especially in the event of an emergency.
